Help Information for Ex-Offenders

Probationers, parolees, or people who have served out, can now get help and resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling the below toll free number or by looking at our resources page. This number is answered by those serving their sentence now. You do not have to give your name, but they do ask what county in Kentucky you are calling from. This is to allow them to access the information needed for the area you are in, and also to keep track of where the greatest needs are within the state.

Home of the Innocents – Project Keepsafe

A program that offers a FREE stay for the children (ages birth through 17) to a parent or parents who are going in or are in substance abuse recovery treatment and have no other support available to care for the children during the inpatient treatment. There is also the option of short-term respite support for those parents in transitional housing who are working to stay clean and sober – the child (ren) can come stay for a few days or a week while the parent focuses on themselves and their on-going recovery.

Custody of the children remains with the parent or parents during this time. The state does not take custody of the children in Project Keepsafe. The child (ren) remain in their home school where they are enrolled and attending – The Home of the Innocents will arrange transportation to/from school daily so children can remain stable in their school attendance.

Project Keepsafe referrals can also be made for parents who are receiving in-patient medical or mental health services and need a safe place for their children to stay during that time. Call Ajeenah Sharif at 596-1221 to make a referral today or receive additional program details!
